We’re a little over half way done with September! So, I want to give an update on our no spend month. It has been a lot harder than I anticipated. I bought some things that weren’t on my list!
I’m sharing with full transparency to hold myself accountable and to show that I’m not perfect and it’s a process.
- I spent $8.45 on a sandwich on the way to the doctors office. I had blood work done. And I didn’t packed a lunch. So a lack of preparation resulted in my first spend only 5 days into September!
- Five days later I spent $10 at Burger King! I had a real craving for it and again hadn’t properly prepared. So we didn’t have the food at home to make dinner and we were tired.
- I spent $23.12 at target on September 11. I should not have been at Target! But we were heading to California over the weekend to photograph a wedding and they had the cutest hat! So I bought it for the beach 🏖
- The last thing we spent money on so far was $13.61 at the cheap seats for a date night. We meant to have all our date nights at home. Obviously that didn’t happen, but I feel like that money for fun memories and special time together was worth it!
So we haven’t been perfect by any means, but it is so much less than we were spending last month! Total this month we spent $55.18 on non-essentials. This no spend month has been a fun challenge, and hopefully I’ll have even more discipline the rest of the month!
Some big successes have been present too! Pandora released a new jewelry line, and I did not immediately buy it all! We went to California for a long weekend and spent within our predetermined budget! We ate ALL the food we bought from Costco. No wasted spinach or left over avocados! We finished it all! And we even had some great breakfasts at home!
