Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! What a fun time of year when two of the holidays I celebrate are happening at the same time. Christmas time always makes me think about how the last year went. And this year this meme has been going around:
It says “As a grown-up I’ve learned that all the “Christmas magic” I felt as a kid was really a mom who loved me so much”
And I feel so lucky that my mom is still creating Christmas magic, but so am I, and so is my sister, and so is my husband, and so are my friends. So as a grown-up the Christmas magic that I’m feeling is even more special because part of it is being made by my hubby and myself.
This year especially it would have felt easy to not have the Christmas magic. I had my wisdom teeth taken out on the 21st. And that has left me in bed for the last three days napping off and on! While I’m doing that JT is still going to work! Before work he’s bringing me lattes and oatmeal. After work he’s making me scrambled eggs and soup! Every day he’s showing me new ways he takes care of me, and every day I appreciate that.
We worked opposite schedules even before we knew I was having my wisdom teeth taken out. So we came up with a creative way to create Christmas magic everyday! Instead of doing one big present we exchanged Christmas stockings everyday. We kept a pretty tight budget for this, so lots of small presents, sweet notes, and massage coupons! Exchanging stockings meant that we each got to connect in the Christmas spirit even when we weren’t actually together. How did y’all do Christmas gifts? Or did you choose to do experiences or something else?
