When I went to Universal Studios in California with my family the number one thing we wanted to do was try the butterbeer. Of course, it was absolutely delicious. I was in the minority and I actually liked the blended version less! So when JT and I decided to have a Harry Potter movie marathon it seemed like a no brainer to make a butterbeer recipe.
The decision to make butterbeer was super easy. What butterbeer recipe to follow was not as easy a decision. When you search “butterbeer recipe” on Pinterest you get tons and tons of different options. They range from super complicated to fairly easy. Plus you have to choose between alcoholic and non-alcoholic! We chose non-alcoholic, and I combined a couple different recipes in order to make a SUPER easy one. Obviously it doesn’t taste exactly like the butterbeer in the park, but it was super delicious!
Our recipe was:
Butterscotch syrup drizzled on the bottom and the sides of the cups
1 bottle of cream soda per cup
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream per cup
Topped with whipped cream
So basically we made fancy root beer floats, but we drank them out of specialty mugs and we had an amazing time! 10/10 we will be making it again! In the meantime we also really enjoyed making butterbeer popcorn! We made everything from scratch, and it was absolutely delicious!! It was probably my favorite fall snack we’ve made so far! Although we do have plans for apple oatmeal cookies and homemade apple cider. So the overall winner is yet to be determined!
But if I’m ever feeling really really ambitious I want to try this recipe from Quik Quid. But it has about a hundred steps and I just wasn’t feeling that ambitious! It does, however, look like it would be really delicious!
