With the holidays quickly approaching (seriously, where did this year go?) you might be expecting guests soon! At least I assume you are, or it wouldn’t make sense for you to be reading this now! I travel a lot for work, and most of the time I stay in a hotel. But sometimes I get to stay with friends and family members who make me feel so loved and so welcome. And through those trips I have learned 4 things to always leave in the guest bedroom.
Going the extra mile to have a welcoming touch will just make your guests feel more at home!
- A welcome note. A welcome note can go a really long way to making your guests feel comfortable. I love when it includes the wifi password and any relevant itineraries for the duration of the stay. That takes away the awkwardness of having to ask, and really makes me feel like I’m at home! I personally like to include the welcome note in the first page of a notebook that my guests can take home with them! I love love love collecting notebooks, so to me it makes the perfect souvenir. Golden coil makes super super notebooks with a wide variety of covers so you can continue a theme.
- A Touch of the Season I love to include something that signifies the season because it’s impossible not to be in the holiday mood if it’s in your decor. Personally, I stick with blankets and candles. I love those because they are super cozy and make the space feel more homey! If you’re leaving a candle in the room make sure there are also matches! I love these fancy matches to take it to the next level!
- A Travel Kit This is my favorite thing to include. Who hasn’t been on a plane or in a car all day and just felt icky? I know I have. So being able to get clean without having to ask where anything is makes my life so much easier! I love this one from Whispering Willow because it smells amazing and includes the necessities like soap, body wash, salve, and lip balm. Traveling always makes my skin super dry so those are the perfect travel gifts! Then I slip in a toothbrush and toothpaste because I notoriously forget my own. And little bottles of natural shampoo and conditioner to round it out!
- Food & Water This one typically raises the most eyebrows, but it is the one that I appreciate the most. It might be because my love language is food. But it is so thoughtful! We like to include Icelandic water because it’s where we got engaged. But any water is appreciated. Then your guests don’t have to creep into your kitchen in the middle of the night to get a glass. Which can feel awkward. The same is true for the food! I can get hangry, so having some jerky, a handful of nuts, or a piece of chocolate is so welcome!
Those are my favorite things to have left for me when I’m traveling, but I’d love to know what you guys like too!!
